Merlin I am Kolkata Presents New Clothes for Puja to the children of Pathchala

  • Extends Educational Support for next four months

Kolkata, September 27, 2022 : The Countdown to Durga Puja, the Unesco tagged fesitival has started in right earnest. People are thronging the markets and malls to complete their last minute Puja Shopping in frenzy.
In a humble effort to bring cheer to the little faces of Pathchala, a non profit organization in Kalighat, Merlin I Am Kolkata the corporate social responsibility arm of Merlin Group has presented Puja clothes to 65 odd children. Merlin I Am Kolkata also has announced their educational support including food and educational stationaries, art and craft to Pathchala for next four months upto December this year. Merlin Group supported the children from time to time and organized their trip to Acropolis Mall, and presented puja donation of clothes and educational stationary.

At a formal function at the Princeton Club, Shri Saket Mohta , Managing Director, Merlin Group and founder of Merlin I Am Kolkata, presented puja clothes to the children of Pathchala in presence of Percussionist Ratul Shankar. Rukmini Paul , President, Pathchala was also present.
“ Durga Puja is the biggest festival in the world where lakhs of people congregate at the pandals clad in new attire. However I feel this festival belongs to all strata of society. Pathchala has been working to bring the Children of daily wage earners in and around Kalighat into the mainstream of education. Children here also have a right to wear new clothes and go on pandal hopping. I feel extremely delighted to present our humble offering to them to make my birthday more special. If our humble help can bring cheer to the little angels, we would feel more satiated. We have also contributed to their monthly requirement of educational stationary and food that would help them pursue education. We can extend more support to enable the children pursue higher education”, said Saket Mohta, MD, Merlin Group and founder, Merlin I am Kolkata.

About Pathchala :

Established in 1997 by late Smt. Indrani Ganguly, Pathchala was founded by a group of like minded citizens of Kolkata. It was dedicated to helping the underprivileged children, primarily from the streets and from the areas marked as red-light zones in and around Kalighat . Late Shri Ashish Ganguly and Smit Krishna Gupta , a school teacher of Navanalanda , assumed the responsibility for Pathchala and expanded the work manifold.

Pathchala was awarded “The Telegrah School Award” (2009) and much such recognition came .

Currently Pathchala supports 65 children and their education and all round development including sports, menstrual hygiene awareness , value education and vocational education. Merlin Group supported the children from time to time and organized their trip to Acropolis Mall, and presented puja donation of clothes and educational stationary.
