Kolkata 21st March, 2022: Education being a very important part of human life & a need of the hour to empower women, it is important for them to get the right guidance in making the right choices in life so far as their career is concerned. With this thought in mind, Loreto College & the Alumnae Association in collaboration with IIM Shillong, crafted a one- of- a- kind initiative of organising a Bootcamp- Certificate Course on Career Aspirants & Decision Making for 76 students of the college.
The participating students have enjoyed & found it very helpful. Many who never considered pursuing MBA earlier are now quite keen to apply for it. The course has been insightful for most of them as their perceptions have changed about Management Courses. It has also encouraged non commerce background students to consider their career in the field of Management & Statistics. It has definitely busted some myths or doubts which were there earlier & hopefully will prove to be beneficial for them in the long run as far as their career or professional life is concerned.
The Investiture Ceremony of the above was held on 21st March, 2022 at Loreto College with over 250 people (including parents, teachers & college alumnae members) attending as the audience.
“As an Alumna of Loreto College, I have noticed the transition the Campus has experienced. Way back in 1980s when we joined College, the whole system was quite different. Definitely things were not online like it is today; everything is just at a click of a button. We did not have access to such programs but yes we were given adequate exposure as required then. All the teachers were always very helpful & the best counsellors when we needed any advice. Now, times have changed so has the curriculum in our College as we all have aspirations that is beyond graduation studies. We all have the zeal to work hard & achieve our goals more than we did before. The College is continuously working on adding new departments & at present the college offers courses like B.A. (Honours & General) in Education, English, History, Political Science, Psychology & Geography; B.Sc. (Honours &.General) in Geography & Economics; B.A. (General) in Bengali, Hindi, Economics, Journalism, Film Studies, Sociology, Human Rights & Mathematics.
The Bootcamp may have ended as of now but this is just another beginning as education is a lifelong journey and as rightly quoted by Nelson Mandela- “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
