Tribe celebrates Tintin’s birthday with a special tintin-themed menu


23 JANUARY, 2021: TRIBE CAFÉ, at 67 Ballygunge Gardens, Golpark, celebrated the 92nd Birthday of Tintin, the epic character created by Hergé with the launch of a menu that would be on till 31st January, 2021. This day was further commemorated with an open discussion that featured Tintin enthusiasts from different fields of life and a Tintin-themed quiz that was conducted by Rajarshi Nag. The discussion was about “growing up with Tintin” and it featured Agnijit Sen (RJ Agni) and Satrajit Chowdhury (Comics by Satra) as special guests who participated in the discussion and talked about the impact Tintin had in their lives.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Shilpa Chakraborty, Mr. Sanjay Roy Chowdhury and Mr. Pinaki Ranjan Ghosh, Co- Owners of TRIBE, said, We are very much attached to Tintin. We could never miss the chance to congratulate him on his birthday. Most of us have grown up reading The Adventures of Tintin, and thanks to the adaptations of radio, television, theatre and films, the comic book character became everyone’s favourite, and have even inspired many of us. He truly inspired us to dream big. With our month long celebration we hope our patrons transport into the world of Tintin at TRIBE and relive their favourite childhood memories.”

The Tintin-themed menu, curated for TRIBE by restaurant critic and food writer Poorna Banerjee, features dishes inspired from Tintin. Speaking about this, Shilpa Chakraborty, OWNER, TRIBE, said, “We wanted a menu that would be based on remembering all the best moments based on Tintin. So after a lot of careful discussion and research, we curated this menu to recollect our favourite comic character. The menu is our small initiative for our patrons to take them on a journey to the good old memories of  Tintin.”  

Paying a tribute to Tintin, TRIBE Cafe promises to take you all to the world of Tintin at TRIBE. Comic lovers entering TRIBE will witness Tintin with Captain Haddock, and snowy welcoming them. Many beautiful and memorable pop-up frames of Tintin can be seen in and around TRIBE.

The menu features an assortment of items, like Tintin’s Special Breakfast Platter, Cuthbert’s Cinnamon Sugar Belgian Waffle, Tintin’s Hiker Honey Sandwich, Snowy’s Chicken Wings, Castafiore’s Pasta, Rastapopoulos’ Grilled Fish, Alan’s Grilled Chicken and Wine, Captain Haddock’s Pork Chop, and Apple Pie from Redskin City and Shooting Star. The menu is available a-la-carte and cost for two is around INR 1000/-.  The operational timing of TRIBE is from 11 am to 10 pm.
