Sister Nivedita University Welcomed Victory Mashaal under Swarnim Vijay Varsh

Anando Sangbad Live:The morning of 15th March saw Sister Nivedita University welcome the Victory Mashaal as a part of the Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations that began nationwide since 16th December, 2020.
One of the four Victory Mashaal lit at the Amar Jyoti at National War Memorial, travelled to West Bengal and it was welcomed with great pomp and show at the Campus of Sister Nivedita University in association with the Eastern Command of the Indian Army.

Chancellor of SNU, Shri Satyam Roy Choudhury was handed the Mashaal Ceremoniously by the Superiors of the Indian Armed Forces for the celebration of the event. He was accompanied by Vice Chancellor Shri Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay and Registrar Shri Suman Chatterjee. The event was marked off with melodious patriotic tunes performed by the Assam Regiment’s Army Band, paying homage and tribute to the Bravest of the Brave, Param Vir Chakra and Maha Vir Chakra Awardees through the flames of the Victory Mashaal.

Following the initial celebrations at the ground, the Mashaal was carried with great traditions to the Seminar Hall where the proud SNUites gathered along with the representatives of the Tri-Services of the Indian Armed Forces. With his opening speech, the Vice Chancellor Shri Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay welcomed the VF contingent and guests followed by a speech by Chancellor Shri Satyam Roy Choudhury highlighting the importance of Swarnim Vijay Varsh. The VF Leaders then tookover the proceedings, retelling the tales of Valour and Courage undertaken by the Indian Armed Forces. The SNUites also saw a film that spoke in depth about the history of Vijay Varsh and how the Fifty Glorious years of Victory have been so far. With patriotic performances by the proud SNUites and the Melodious Patriotic Instrumental band performance by the Assam Regiment of the Armed Forces, the entire campus was filled with great pride carrying gratitude in every heart for our Indian Armed Forces.

The event came to an end with a vote of thanks by Registrar Shri Suman Chatterjee, followed by the crowd singing The National Anthem before the Victory Mashaal was handed over to the Indian Armed Forces for it to renew its journey across the rest of the state and country.

Sister Nivedita University would like to extend gratitude and thanks to the Government of India and the Indian Armed Forces for extending this opportunity to pay the respectful homage to the Victory Mashaal and the Bravest of the Brave Virs of our country.
