A brief about Silver Point School

On 26th July 1997, Silver Point School opened its doors for students residing in New Ballygunge (Kasba), a part of the metropolis Kolkata. There was a need for quality English medium school with adequate infrastructure to support the local children. Late Sri Pannalal Roychowdhury and Mrs. Bani Roychowdhury took the initiative of starting Silver Point School with only 4 students. Today the school with nearly 1500 students follow the motto – “Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamayo” which means “Lead us from darkness to light” diligently.

The school will complete 25 years of its service in education. It believes in holistic development of all children and lays equal emphasis on co-curricular activities along with academics.
The school got affiliation from WBBSE in the year 2005 and WBCHSE in the year 2012 with all the three streams, Science Humanities and Commerce in the Higher Secondary Section. In 2022 the school switched over to the CBSE Board. The first batch of CBSE will appear in 2024.
The school has maintained a record of academic excellence right from the year 2007 and most students are well placed or pursuing University education in different careers in several parts of the world.


  1. Under the NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL POLICY, locally skilled craftsmen will be invited to the school to train and motivate children to learn their crafts. Crafts like pottery, embroidery, tailoring, patchitra painting and carpentery will be encouraged. These days will be NO BAG days. Children will be exposed to vocational training on these days.
  2. Adult literacy program will be undertaken in the evening.
  3. Under Privileged Schools in the hilly areas will be adopted and given funds to run the institute. Their teachers will be guided and trained by SILVER POINT teachers. One such School is CHINTAN ACADEMY near Darjeeling.
  4. Early Childhood Education Centers will be set up in different parts of the city.
  5. With changing times and challenges, the school is well equipped to continue the work of education through hybrid learning.
  6. INTERACT and ECO clubs will continue to do social services of different kinds to enrich and uplift society.


A yearlong program commencing from July 2021 will be culminating at MADHUSUDAN MANCH on 26th July this year. There will be two shows -10am to 1pm and 5pm to 8pm.
The Honourable Mayor Of Kolkata Shri Firhad Hakim has given his consent to be our chief guest. Dr. Ahkilesh Kumar from the Centre Of Excellence CBSE Bhuveneshwar and Swami Vedatinanda, head of the RK Mission Vocational Training Institute Belur Math , have kindly consented to be the guest of honour for the morning show.
Shri Debasish Kumar MMIC is invited as the chief guest. Shri Baishwanor Chatterjee MMIC and Councillor 91 Ward Swami Suparnandaji Maharaj of RKM are invited as guest of honour for the evening show.
To mark 25 years of the institution, 25 people from different walks of life will be felicitated. Among them are ten students who have received our endowment during the year long program. These students are Paromita Bera –a victim of Acid attack, Pallavi Sinha, whose year long responsibility of education was taken by Silver Point School as her single mother worked as domestic help and 4 other women achievers who are struggling everyday in their lives, but still pursuing education with full passion, and 4 of our own students having financial problems. Fifteen more will be felicitated on-stage.

  4. Five teachers from the school who have served the school for more than 20 years and enriched it by their continuous and dedicated service one teacher from Chintan Academy who is fighting against odds to run the school for educating the children of the Lepcha Community. Chintan Academy has been adopted by Silver Point School.
  5. Five ex-students who have made us proud by their achievement in different fields like IT industry, Medical Profession, Research Work in Germany, Choreography and Banking sector.
    To showcase our achievements a colourful and informative COFFEE BOOK has been published which will be released on the 26th.
    As a part of the entertainment we have planned to celebrate AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV in the form of a choreographed narrative titled TRISHAKTI. The narrative depicts three aspects of our country – FREEDOM, DEVELOPMENT and STRENGTH.
  6. Distribution of dry grocery goods, utensils and clothes to a school in Jhorkhali Sunderbans which suffered great loss during the AMPHAN and YAASH cyclones.
  7. Donation of Rs. 5000 to SANGBEDON an NGO which caters to the need of Sunderban area.
  8. As a part of the International Day of Peace, Silver Point School honoured 7 police officers from Kasba Police Station for maintaining peace and Harmony in the area amidst the COVID Pandemic.
  9. Interact Club of Silver Point School donated garbage bins – one blue and one green to Ballygunge Railway Station and created awareness about segregation of bio degradable and non-biodegradable waste.
  10. Interact Club of Silver Point School with Rotary Club of Calcutta donated 200 books to a primary school for 600 tribal children in Kashmar district of Jhargram.
  11. The school regularly makes donations to Helpage India for the welfare of the old and infirm.
