Intangible Heritage Culture – Durga Puja is now at NewTown

Newtown Sarbojanin Durgotsab Samiti is planning to organize the first Sarbojanin Puja of Newtown this year in City Square Newtown. New Town too will be benefited with the “NewTown Sarbojanin” as tourism, shopping and culture of the smart city will get a boost in association with HIDCO and NKDA, NewTown Sarbojanin is organizing Durga Puja for all the residents of Eastern Corridor of India, with the collaboration with Slate Pencil, at City Square, Newtown. This was announced at a Press Conference at Press Club in the presence of Actress Rituparna Sengupta, Mrs. Urmila Sen, President NewTown Sarbojanin along with other committee members today followed by the logo unveiling designed by renowned artist Shuvaprasanna Bhattacharjee.


“Nishumbh Shukha Garjni, Prashant Munda Khandini Barerna Prakashini, Bhajami Vindhavasini…”- an impressive Bengali dance presentation on this praise of Mother Vandhasini commenced the grand Durga Puja ceremony where the theme and Durga Mata’s court will be decorated by the renowned artist Prasanta Pal in a grand way.
Addressing the Media, Mrs. Urmila Sen, President NewTown Sarbojanin said, “We value the culture of Bengal. This is why this puja is known as Biswa Banga Puja. We are committed to showcase the various art forms of Bengal. With the inspiration of Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Durga Puja is now a UNESCO heritage event and we will take it one steps up.”
For the Press, Mr. Debasish Sen, Chief Advisor, NewTown Sarbojanin & MD Hidco, and Chairman NKDA/NDITA said, “Durga Puja is emotion for us. During this time we forget all our sufferings and have a lot of fun and spend time with family and friends. This is the first time we are organizing Durga Puja at NewTown and we expect this will bringall residents closer during these days. It will be heartening to see the entire community coming together to celebrate all festivals with great enthusiasm. Those four days, I will spend my quality time here and will be happy with devotion.”
