IEEMA flags off 3rd Empowering Energizing East conference; in talks with WB Government to set up a dedicated Electric & Electronics Park

30 June 2022, Kolkata: The 3rd edition of eastern region flagship event “Empowering Energizing East – E3” of IEEMA was formally flagged off here today by Chief Guest, Mr Jishnu Dev Varma, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Power Minister, Government of Tripura in the presence of Mr S Suresh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of West Bengal, Mr Vipul Ray, President of IEEMA, Mr Siddharth Bhutoria, Chairman E3 2022, Mr Jitendra Kumar Agarwal, Chairman Elecrama 2023 and Mr Hamza Arsiwala, Vice-President, IEEMA, and other dignitaries.
E3 is a two-day event organized by the Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturer’s Association (IEEMA) that showcases on how the Eastern Region is on Energisation and Empowerment. The event brings together Electrical Industry, Technocrats, Government, Utilities, New Industry segments like Oil Refineries, Cement, Railways, Steel etc on the same platform. More than 300 delegates from all over India are visiting this mega event. IEEMA is the apex association of manufacturers of electrical, industrial electronics and allied equipment in India. Mode. E3 brings fresh ideas and value additions for IEEMA members and the stakeholders.
“The small north-eastern states have big challenges of geographical and conditions and forest clearances. Establishing 24×7 dependable power supply remains a challenge which we are tackling by creating new benchmarks. We have taken up major electrification projects to ensure last mile delivery of power to remote regions. The Tripura government and other north eastern states are investing in power sector to increase capacity generation and distribution to earn revenues. Tripura exported 160 MW of power to Bangladesh last year. We invite the industry to be with us and share their perspectives which is very important for tackling challenges at the ground level,” said Mr Jishnu Dev Varma, Dy Chief Minister and Power Minister of Tripura.
“We are investing around 17 lakh crore for generating 150GW of solar power by 2030. We need to build a collaborative association with the electrical industry so that our needs and requirements are met to match the international standards,” said Mr S Suresh Kumar Addl. Chief Secretary, Government of West Bengal.
The theme of the session is Energy Transition which holds the key to tackle global energy and climate crisis. It will be a unique opportunity IEEMA members and stakeholders to interact with policy makers, listen to their vision about power landscape and the opportunities therein. The focus of E3 2022 is to explore and identify large sourcing requirement of electrical equipment of various organizations other than the state electrical utilities. An interesting session with CEOs of Smart Cities on the types of solutions required from the Electrical Industry is also planned.
Mr Vipul Ray, President, IEEMA, said, “The Government of India has an extensive plan to generate more green power from sustainable renewable energy resources. Therefore, a modern state-of-the-art micro grid research infrastructure is highly required in India for carrying out extensive research in this area. Eastern India offers tremendous potential for infrastructure development and investment opportunities. Thus the focus of E3 would revolve around subjects like Emerging Technologies for Electrical & Electronics Industry, smart cities and future business opportunities.”
Mr Siddharth Bhutoria, Chairman, E3 2022 said, “IEEMA is in active talks with the West Bengal Government to provide 1000-acre land near the national highway for setting up a dedicated Electrical and Electronics Park which would also be a new age hi-tech manufacturing hub. The proposed deep water port at Tajpur would further boost exports. This would help us to bring in companies from across the globe in the renewable energy and electric vehicles (EV) manufacturing sector. The focus of IEEMA is to bring in non-traditional sectors under its fold and provide a platform to MSMEs to meet with buyers, vendors and get acquainted with sourcing procedures. This year the buyer-seller meet at E3 will focus exclusively on the requirement of non-utility segment. More than 40 senior officials from various non-utility organisations would have one-to-one meetings with sellers to discuss upcoming requirements.”

ELECRAMA Chairman Mr Jitendra K Agarwal also apprised the delegates about phase 1 of ELERAMA space bookings where within 9 days of commencement of booking more than 600 exhibitors with around 28000 sqsm of space is already booked. Phase 2 of space bookings will begin soon.
