ACROPOLIS MALL PRESENTS MANGO MANIA – A FIVE DAY LONG MANGO FESTIVAL

Kolkata, July 1, 2022: Acropolis Mall, India’s leading premium mall has played host to a Mango eating com-petition today at its Mango festival christened “Mango Mania” amid much fanfare and enthusiasm. Mango Mania is the mango festival organized by Acropolis Mall in association with t2 , Sananda and Friends FM and social media partner Bhoj Adda. The festival has started on June 29 and will continue till 3rd July from 12 noon to 9 pm everyday. Acropolis Mall has organized the festival to celebrate the bliss of the season with the King of fruit Mango. The aim is to create a drool worthy experience for guests with an array of delectable delicacies replete in the taste of mango with much fanfare and fun.
Soumitra Ray, eminent singer and lead vocalist of noted Bangla Band Bhoomi has graced the occasion in presence of Mr. K Vijayan GM , Acropolis Mall. Children from Universal Smile, a residential NGO for street children participated in a fun filled mango eating competition.
On the occasion, Mr. K Vijayan, GM, Acropolis Mall , a Merlin Group of Company and Soumitra Ray pre-sented educational stationary and essential food items to the children of Universal Smile on behalf of Merlin I am Kolkata , the csr wing of Merlin Group as well.

The speciality of this year’s mango festival lies in the participation of self-help group women and farmer interest group in the mango mania this year, A clutch of self-help group women and farmer interest groups have participated here with a variety of food items ranging from mango squash-mango cakes and mango tea. Brands like Chaiolic and age-old sweet brand Nalin Chandra Das and Sons also have displayed varieties of mangoes from Malda and sweets with mango as ingredients.
The Self-Help Groups or SHGs are Julie SHG, Apayan SHG and Dalia SHG. All products of these SHGs are produced by women from Below poverty line, who are economically and socially disadvantaged. These SHGs produce all healthy and hygienic products and sell them, thereby, generating sustainable livelihood for themselves. These women also focus on skill development and training that helps them make a sustainable living out of their skills. A farmer interest group named Krishna FIG catering to the needs of the farmers and sell organic fruits and vegetables to its vendors at the exact price focus on livelihood generation and fresh and organic farming. The mangoes obtained are directly from the farmers.

A plethora of tangy and delectable dishes were there ranging from various flavours of mango squash; mango pickles; mango oil, aam kasundi; mango dahi; mango chocolate; mango cake , mango sandwich, and mango tea. Desserts and sweets with slices of mango drew connoisseurs with sweet tooth.

Mango Mania is our annual festival and we are organizing it after a spate of two years. This year our motto was to empower women who live below poverty line here. With that objective , we kept this festival for the Self help group women and farmers group . We feel happy to accommodate the SHG group of women from North 24 Pargana as a part of this event. They make and sell the most the organic and fresh products. I feel very happy that Acropolis with our partners have been able to provide our customers organic and fresh products straight from the mango orchards. We are also committed to the welfare of children in the field of education and health , that is in line with our corporate philosophy. We hope the children of Universal Smiles have enjoyed the day at our festival here”.

The mall has provided space to self-help group women representing economically backward section to display and sell handmade environment friendly Rakhis to people.
